Research Project

Day 1- Topic Selection

1. Brainstorming - use Research In Context or Infotrac Topic Finder

2. Look at an Example of a Bad Paper 

3.  Read the “Developing a Research Question” link from SUNY Empire. 
    a. Click on the Exercise 1 and Exercise 2 links to read more about good research questions.   

5.Complete the Research Project Proposal worksheet (If you use Google Docs, sign in to your Google account and copy this sheet to your Google Drive. You can then edit it on the computer. You can also download the document as a Word Document. Alternatively, use the paper copy.)






Day 2
1. Use Developing Research Questions worksheet to form the thesis statement and outline of your paper. (View a completed Sample Developing Research Questions worksheet.)
2. Use those research questions to develop search strings
Remember to use keywords, Boolean operators (and/or/not), truncated searches, and Google advanced search.
3. Sign up and use NoodleTools to record your sources. Use the code on the board, then create your own account.
